We aim to encourage these skills by providing a vehicle for exhibiting gardening and arts and crafts and in doing so participate irrespective of age, race, gender or ability.
Gardening is for all ages think of it as a healthy hobby. I started gardening at the age of 11 encouraged by my father. You don’t have to spend hours in the garden just a few hours a week is comforting for your mind and body. You don’t need an allotment or a big garden to grow you own Vegetables, fruit and flowers. Grow veggies in small raised beds or tubs on the patio or in the garden.
It is more manageable this way when you have to go to work and run a family. If you are considering having an allotment ask the plot steward for a small size plot as a large size plot may be a little too daunting.
We would like you to take part in our Horticultural and craft show. Don’t feel that the show is for the seasoned exhibitors only this is not the case. I was once a new entry level exhibitor, I won one out of 3 entries and was happy with the result. I went on to winning more since,so please do not feel intimidated when you see other exhibits at the show.
We have qualified judges from the Leicester and Leicestershire Horticultural Judges Guild judging at the show. Lots of trophies and awards to be presented at the show for adults and children.
Our Horticultural & craft show will be at the Civic Center August 23 2020 in Braunstone town Blaby Leicester. The Show Schedule will be printed in January 2020 and will be available at the Civic Center or at —p-phil.ellis@ntlworld.com
